Timo Glock crashed heavily and gashed his leg during qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix a week ago, and also suffered from fever and a nasty cold. But unfortunately his injuries are far worse than previously expected.
When Glock slammed head on into the tyre barrier, further medical checks has subsequently showed that he has suffered a crack to his vertebra.
"Obviously everyone in the team is very disappointed and feels for Timo; we wish him a very speedy recovery," John Howett said in a statement.
"Based on the initial diagnosis, we fully expected Timo to return in Brazil but unfortunately a different injury has been revealed which prevents that. He will remain in Germany to recover and we hope he can recuperate in time for Abu Dhabi, although at this stage the situation is not clear," added Howett.
BothTimo Glock and Jarno Trulli are rumoured to be leaving oyota after this season, because the team wants a completely fresh driver line-up. Glock is the only one of the two drivers which Toyota has an option to retain.
